NOC wrestlers score big at state meet

COLUMBUS -- Three Northeast Ohio Conference teams finished in the top 10 at the state wrestling meet, while 15 grapplers earned All-Ohio honors.

Leading the way were Elyria and Mayfield, who tied for sixth in Division I with 49 points, while Twinsburg finished eighth with 46.

The NOC did not have an individual champion, but four wrestlers finished as state runners-up in their respective weight classes. They were:

171 / Cory Hayes, Mayfield
285 / James Meder, Valley Forge

Eleven additional NOC wrestlers earned All-Ohio status:

130 / Dalton McHenry, Elyria - 3rd place
140 / Waguiem Comar, Twinsburg - 3rd place
152 / Phillip Egnor, Elyria - 6th place
152 / Chet Bissell, Twinsburg - 7th place
160 / Darren Rhodes, Nordonia - 3rd place
160 / Tylan Coleman, Mayfield - 4th place
160 / Zack Goins, Elyria - 5th place
171 / Marlon Baker, Twinsburg - 6th place
215 / Ryan Nelisse, Elyria - 6th place
